Official Shackleford Bypass:

One alternate course selection is available to all participants.  That being if weather does not permit a safe passage around Shackleford, or if a sailor for any reason desires an non-oceanic bypass, the full challenge will be considered completed if buoy 4 at the Bight and Beaufort Warning Light A are both rounded.  With or without oceanic transit.

Those sailors that round Shackleford need not round either buoy.
